A West Ada school trustee and Superintendent Linda Clark met Friday morning — with attorneys on hand — to discuss developing “a more positive relationship” in the state’s largest school district.
Here’s what district spokesman Eric Exline had to say about the meeting, in a prepared statement:
“Tina Dean, chair of the board of the West Ada School District and Linda Clark, superintendent, met this morning with their respective counsel to discuss ways in which they can attempt to develop a more positive relationship moving forward in the interest of fostering the continued success of the district. All present believe that the meeting was productive, and they plan to further discuss these issues. Should any action result from discussions, the board will notice a public meeting consistent with the open meeting laws, and Clark will be available to comment.”
On Thursday, Clark declined to comment to Idaho Education News — even to confirm a meeting would be taking place.
The meeting was first announced by trustee Julie Madsen, on her campaign Facebook page. But evidently, Madsen was not at Friday’s meeting.
The West Ada board has been in turmoil since May, when Madsen defeated longtime trustee Anne Ritter and Russell Joki won an open trustee’s race. Madsen and Joki criticized the previous board for extending Clark’s contract through the 2017-18 school year — and on Sept. 29, trustees voted to rescind the contract extension.
Trustees have also questioned Clark’s appointment to the State Board of Education, and voted against her recommendation to hire an assessment director.
