Idaho Speaker of the House Mike Moyle’s political action committee this month reported $43,440 in independent expenditures to support three Republican incumbents in swing districts.
Moyle, R-Eagle, created Idaho Rising PAC in late 2023. During the 2024 election cycle, the PAC raised $467,286 and reported $431,984 in independent expenditures, including $321,000 in opposition to Proposition 1, the ranked-choice voting ballot initiative.
This year, Moyle’s PAC isn’t raising or spending nearly as much on political ads. Here’s what this month’s filings show:
- $23,600 to support Rep. Mike Pohanka in District 26 Seat A
- Pohanka, seeking a second term, faces Democrat Anita Janis and independent Christian conservative Bella Schiffler. Click here to read more about the race.
- $11,340 to support Rep. Dustin Manwaring in District 29 Seat A
- Manwaring has served four terms in the House and faces a third matchup against Democrat Mary Shea, whom he defeated in 2024 by 10.4 percentage points.
- $8,500 to support Rep. Brandon Mitchell in District 6 Seat B
- Mitchell is running for a fourth term and will face Democrat Kathy Dawes in a rematch. He won in 2024 by 16.2 percentage points.
Moyle’s PAC this year received contributions from Ketchum-based GR Squire LLC, developer Dan Richter, Idaho Realtors PAC, Marathon Petroleum Corp., Chevron, Big West Oil and Blue Cross of Idaho.
Several other state legislators have PACs:
- Rep. Jordan Redman, R-Coeur d’Alene, spent $350,000 of his own money on the May primaries this year through his 36-18-1 Inc. PAC.
- Rep. Josh Tanner, R-Eagle, and Redman both lead the Idaho Summit PAC, which spent $217,757 on the primaries.
- Senate Pro Tempore Kelly Anthon, R-Declo, is chairman of Gem State Legacy Political Action Committee, which contributed $15,750 to candidates this year.
- Rep. Chris Mathis, D-Boise, registered Rising Tide Idaho PAC this year. He contributed $6,000 of his own money and has not reported any expenses.
