Derek Bub of the West Ada School District has extended his lead as the state’s highest-paid superintendent.
After signing a new contract this summer that includes $20,000 annual raises over the next three years, Bub will take home $250,822 this school year.
The second-highest salary belongs to Wendy Johnson, superintendent of the Boise School District, who will earn $219,454. Her predecessor, Lisa Roberts, who retired last school year, earned $218,362.
West Ada is the state’s largest school district with more than 37,300 students. Boise is the second-largest district with nearly 22,000 students.
The state’s largest districts tend to have the highest-paid superintendents, but that’s not always the case.
The Blaine County School District is the 26th largest in the state. Its superintendent, Jim Foudy, ranks fifth among salaries.
And some charter school administrators are among the top 10. Scott Thomson, executive director of the North Idaho STEM Charter Academy, ranks sixth.
