House Democratic leader will not seek re-election

A member of the House’s Democratic leadership team will not seek re-election in 2024.

Rep. Lauren Necochea

Instead, Rep. Lauren Necochea says she will concentrate on her role with the Idaho Democratic Party.

“Given the enormity and importance of the task at hand, I decided to dedicate my energies fully to the role of party chair,” Necochea, D-Boise, said on X Thursday. “I look forward to helping Democrats get across the finish line this November so that we cast more decisive votes to create opportunity for Idahoans.”

Necochea, the House’s assistant minority leader, is serving her third term in the House. She represents legislative District 19, a Democratic stronghold that includes Boise’s North End.
