The Kuna School District’s board of trustees named Marcus Myers, Jeff Gee and David Reinhart finalists in its search for a superintendent Thursday at a special board meeting.

Myers serves as the Chief Academic Officer in the West Ada School District, Idaho’s largest district.

Gee is the superintendent of the Ririe School District, a rural district of about 700 students.

Reinhart was formerly a Kuna district assistant superintendent.

Trustees established their list of semifinalists with about five minutes of discussion after about 45 minutes in executive session.

The board does not plan to discuss the superintendent search at its Tuesday, Feb. 10, regular meeting.

The board moved to interview the three candidates successively, followed by a district tour with the candidates, on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

In the culmination of an $8,750 contract, Idaho School Boards Association representative Katie Russell presented Kuna trustees with a list of applications, joining them in executive session to review the candidates.

Nearing a decision, the Kuna board reached the precipice of a nearly two-year saga to find a permanent replacement for former superintendent Wendy Johnson.

Johnson was recently tapped to lead the neighboring Boise School District following Lisa Roberts’ retirement.

Kim Bekkedahl has led the district since she stepped in as an interim superintendent after Johnson’s departure for Boise in 2024.
