Police investigate threat against Lake City High School student

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department was investigating a threat made Sunday against a Lake City High School student.

Police were notified of the threat late Sunday night, according to a Coeur d’Alene School District news release. A suspect threatened to shoot a female student at the school Monday, after the student refused to send the suspect a nude photograph.

The suspect deliberately used social media apps that would mask his or her identity.

Additional police officers were dispatched to several area schools, including Lake City, to look for any suspicious activity.

Students can face disciplinary action, including expulsion, for threatening a classmate. Students who threaten a classmate can also face criminal charges.

The district is urging anyone with information on the incident to contact Coeur d’Alene police. Callers can remain anonymous.
