Boise attorney Terri Pickens made it official Monday, launching her run for governor on the Democratic Party ticket.

Pickens announced her campaign with a video on social media, saying incumbent Republican Gov. Brad Little has bowed to President Donald Trump and has shrugged off a recent federal raid in Wilder, which led to 105 arrests on immigration charges.
“I am running for governor because I am answering the call to lead during a time of conflict and fear,” Pickens said Monday. “For too long, politicians have ignored us and we just can’t go on this way. We need to change course and elect leaders who listen, who act, and who won’t bend the knee to billionaires.”
Pickens’ six-minute announcement video only briefly mentioned education. Pickens said she would oppose “voucher” programs that siphon public money into private schools. The 2025 Legislature passed — and Little signed — a $50 million private school tax credit law.
Pickens’ announcement was not a surprise. She signaled her plans to run for governor in May 2023.
It will be Pickens’ second statewide campaign. She ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2022, receiving 30.5% of the vote.
Pickens is founding partner of Pickens Law PA in Boise.
