More than 70 rural schools receive arts grants

More than 70 rural schools and districts will share $1 million in state arts grants.

The State Board of Education and the Idaho Commission on the Arts announced the grant awards Wednesday. Click here to see a full list of the awardees.

The grants range from $1,945 to $15,000, and 19 awardees are receiving a grant for the first time.

Schools can use their grants for fine arts, performing arts and design courses. Grant money can be used for curriculum materials, equipment, and supplies, but not for personnel or training costs.

Schools can spend the grant money between July 1 and June 30, 2024.

The state launched the Expanding Arts Access in Rural Public Schools program in 2022, and the Legislature extended the program this year by approving a budget line item.
