In Boise, it’s school trustee election season

Boise School Board elections are a political oddity.

Under the district’s governing charter, written before Idaho achieved statehood, trustee elections are standalone events, held the first Tuesday in September.

But first comes the candidate filing period. Candidates must file for the election by 5 p.m. June 29.

Declaration of candidacy forms are available on the district’s website.

Three six-year terms are up for grabs: the School Board seats now held by A J Balukoff, Maria Greeley and Troy Rohn.

No candidates have filed, district spokesman Dan Hollar said Thursday.

The Boise trustee elections will be held Sept. 4, the day after Labor Day.
