West Ada named in $1 million-plus tort claim

The West Ada School District is one potential defendant in a $1 million-plus tort claim.

According to the claim, a Mountain View High School student was told to run a lap around school premises in September 2021. The student hit his head on a fire hydrant, suffering a skull fracture and other head injuries, Carolyn Komatsoulis of the Idaho Press reported Sunday.

The West Ada district, its trustees and the teacher are named as defendants, along with Ada County and the city of Meridian, the Idaho Press reported.

The district did not respond to a request for comment from the Idaho Press.

A tort claim is not a lawsuit, but it is a precursor to a civil suit.
