Jodie Mills was appointed the Caldwell School District’s acting superintendent for 2015-16 on Monday night. She takes the place of Tim Rosandick, whose superintendent contract was amended during the same special meeting.

“The board of trustees has appointed Jodie Mills as acting superintendent, pending further action of the board,” trustees said in a news release posted on the district’s website Tuesday morning. ” The board expresses their full confidence in Jodie Mills to provide needed leadership and a smooth transition in the management of School District operations.”

Rosandick will continue to serve the district as a consultant, according to the news release.

The board of trustees held two executive sessions before promoting Mills.

Mills was invited into the second executive session after which trustees voted unanimously for her promotion. At the end of a nine-minute video from the meeting, trustee Amy Rojas congratulates Mills.

Earlier in the special meeting, contract addenda for Rosandick and assistant superintendent Luci Asumendi were approved on a 3-1 vote. Chairman Chuck Stout was the lone vote against the addenda. Board member Sandra Dodson was not present. Trustees Rojas, Tom Briten and Leif Skyving voted in favor of changing both contracts.

“By mutual agreement with the board of trustees, Superintendent Tim Rosandick and Assistant Superintendent Luci Asumendi have been relieved of their active duty status and will continue in their positions as consultants to the board of trustees and school district administrators for the 2015-2016 school year,” the district’s news release states.

Bill Gigray, the district’s attorney, confirmed the changes.

“Luci and Tim will continue to be available for consultations and I fully expect that will be exercised over the next year,” Gigray told Idaho Education News Tuesday.

Rosandick was named Caldwell’s superintendent in April 2012. He had previously been the superintendent in Homedale for seven years and assistant superintendent in Caldwell for eight years.

Mills was hired as director of curriculum for Caldwell in September 2012. She has been responsible for curriculum, instruction, assessment and federal programs, according to the district’s website.
