Idaho school administrators are gathering in Boise this week for sessions, networking and swings on the golf course at the annual Idaho Association of School Administrators Summer Leadership Conference. Find the schedule here.
Educators can receive professional development credits from the University of Idaho or Northwest Nazarene University for a $60 tuition cost.
The conference will tee up on Tuesday, with preliminary sessions running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by an “opening drive” at TopGolf in Meridian.
The conference opens in earnest on Wednesday with welcoming remarks from IASA board president Greg Alexander and a keynote by Brad Montague of Kid President fame.
Wednesday will contain two different breakout sessions offering attendees nine concurrent sessions to choose from; including presentations by representatives from the Idaho Department of Education, Idaho High School Activities Association and the College of Idaho as well as other schools and education-focused or education-adjacent organizations.
Wednesday will conclude with a 45-minute social, ending just as the evening begins and lending administrators adequate time to hit the hay or hit the streets of downtown Boise.
Thursday keeps the ball rolling with two rounds of morning breakout sessions. Round one, at 8:30 a.m., offers eight choices including “Empowering Education Through Transparency” featuring state superintendent Debbie Critchfield.
Critchfield will return in the second round on Thursday, when three of the eight sessions will have presenters from IDE.
As attendees approach the green and the conference comes to a close, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” author Sean Covey will deliver a closing keynote speech.
On Friday, some administrators will drive home while others will drive golf balls at Quail Hollow Golf Club. Golfers may wish to obey a decent bedtime, though: tee time is 7:30 a.m..
