‘Your voice made a difference:’ conservative organizer hails anti-union law

A conservative political organizer is taking some credit for a new state law restricting teachers’ unions.

“Hundreds of you took the time to email the governor and remind him that a conservative state has no business granting special privileges to a far-left labor union,” Greg Pruett, the founder of Honor Idaho, said in a Thursday email to supporters. “And it worked. Little signed the bill, and it will take effect in just a few weeks.”

Pruett and Honor Idaho played into the end-of-session politicking on House Bill 516, a bill banning taxpayer support of teachers’ unions. The bill passed in the waning hours of the 2026 session; Little signed it on April 10, eight days after the close of the session.

Honor Idaho supporters urged him to sign HB 516, using a template email posted on the group’s website.

Little’s staff has said the governor received hundreds of identically worded form letters supporting HB 516. But in response to an Idaho EdNews public records request, Little’s office could not produce the emails — saying they had deleted the form letters after the bill was signed into law. Even though the emails have been trashed, Pruett said they still had an impact.

“I’m grateful to everyone who spoke up,” he told supporters Thursday. “Your voice made a difference.”
