It’s official: Boise State University’s student union building will get a rebrand.
The State Board of Education last week approved a plan that will rename the facility the Boise State University Westmark Student Union Building.
The Idaho-based credit union will pay more than $8.5 million over 10 years for the naming rights. Westmark will also be able to set up a branch in the SUB.
“Westmark Credit Union brings a longstanding commitment to education and community that aligns closely with our mission,” Boise State interim President Jeremiah Shinn said in a university news release.
“This partnership advances our mission to elevate financial well-being by meeting people where they are — providing accessible financial guidance, education, and tools that support real-life decisions,” Westmark Credit Union’s President & CEO Mike Schenck said in the Boise State release.
Boise State says it hired a consultant to review partnership options, “including benchmarking assets against peer universities across the United States,” before settling on Westmark. Founded in 1954, Westmark has 15 branches across the state, serving 80,000 members.
The State Board gave the Boise State-Westmark partnership preliminary approval in February.
