OPINION
Voices from the Idaho EdNews Community

As students of McCall-Donnelly High School, we decided to organize a walkout to protest I.C.E. actions across the United States. We walked out to protest the inhuman actions of I.C.E. agents, like the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I.C.E. has been escalating the violence and mistreatment, which has led to several deaths. These ruthless attacks are unacceptable, both legally and morally. Violence is never the answer, but I.C.E. has shown it to be their first option.

This is a very scary time for everyone, especially for many vulnerable people in our community. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home, at school, at work, and even in the streets. We students are committed and certain that change needs to happen for the sake of our community and our country.

Historically, student-run protests have been effective and, even on a small scale, our protest seeks to create positive change. If we can change anything, even on a city scale, we have been effective. We want I.C.E. out of our communities and off our streets.
