Executive Director of Sage International Schools Andy Johnson announced on July 1 that he was leaving his role with the charter, which operates schools in Boise and Middleton.

Johnson has taken a role as director of the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse, a veteran support organization, and he will be succeeded by a current Sage administrator.
“It has been an incredible honor to be part of the Sage team; a privilege to serve the citizens of our state and country in public education and a gift for all the experience has taught me,” said Johnson in a LinkedIn post.
On July 2, Johnson announced on LinkedIn that he began his role as director of the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse, an organization funded by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation. He cited his more than 20 years of service in the U.S. Army as part of his motivation to take on the role.
“Andy’s leadership over the past five years has been nothing short of extraordinary. With an unwavering commitment to our mission, Andy’s leadership has ensured that Sage remains a thriving, values-driven community,” said a statement attributed to the Sage’s board of directors.
The statement, originally sent to Sage families and stakeholders, also names Emily Downey the charter’s new executive director. Downey currently serves as the charter’s chief financial and operating officer.
Downey is parent of three Sage graduates and has been part of the Sage community since 2014, and became the charter’s CFO in 2021.

Editor’s note: Idaho Education News also receives funding from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation.
