It’s been a record-breaking summer at Boise State University.

Summer class enrollment is up by nearly 9% from last year, with numbers exceeding university projections.

More than 10,000 students are pursuing about 59,300 summer credits, according to a Boise State news release.

Summer programs, which allow students to take classes on a condensed schedule,  are increasing in popularity. All told, 81% of recent Boise State graduates say they enrolled in at least one summer class.

The summer classes are also a key to helping students stay on track to graduate within four years, Boise State says. Among students who graduated on time over the past year, 73% took at least one summer class during their tenure.

Summer sessions at Boise State run through Aug. 17.
