Scott Yenor’s time as a university trustee ended a few months after it began.

The controversial Boise State University political science professor stepped down last week from the University of West Florida’s board of trustees.
“Gov. Ron DeSantis’ higher education reforms are models for the country,” Yenor wrote in a resignation email, obtained by the Pensacola, Fla., News Journal. “I was looking forward to bringing the Governor’s positive vision for higher education to the University of West Florida (UWF) as a member of the Board of Trustees. Opposition to my nomination among a group within Florida’s senate, however, leads me to resign from UWF’s Board of Trustees effectively immediately.”
DeSantis appointed Yenor, a political ally, in January. Yenor was elected board chair, the News Journal reported, but his nomination had never been sent to the Florida Senate.
Yenor’s appointment drew criticism from city and county officials and a citizens’ group calling itself “Save UWF.”
“He just doesn’t represent the way our community feels about UWF,” university President emeritus Judy Bense told the News Journal. “He doesn’t know anything about us. And he basically had a political agenda with us, and I’m very happy that he stepped down.”
A political science professor at Boise State, Yenor drew national backlash in 2021, when he labeled career-oriented women as “medicated, meddlesome and quarrelsome,” and said colleges are contributing to the decline of the family.
