(UPDATED, 2:55 p.m. March 27, with additional appointments.)

The State Board of Education will start working “immediately” to find Boise State University’s next president.

The board announced its search committee Friday — just one day after Marlene Tromp accepted the president’s job at the University of Vermont.  And the board followed up Thursday with more search committee announcements.

“We are determined to conduct a very thorough search, and to get the process started immediately,” board president Linda Clark said in a news release. “The search committee includes leaders from Boise State and the Idaho business community, and all are committed to finding a president who can build on Boise State’s remarkable momentum.”

State Board member David Turnbull will chair the committee, and board member Kurt Liebich will serve as vice chair.

Other committee members are:

  • Lisa Grow, chief executive officer, Idaho Power.
  • Bobbi-Jo Meuleman, CEO, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce.
  • Mike Reynoldson, Blue Cross of Idaho.
  • Bruce Mohr, chairman, Boise State University Foundation.
  • Jeremiah Shinn, vice president of student affairs, Boise State.
  • Lisa Bostaph, professor of criminal justice, Boise State. The State Board added Bostaph Thursday.

On Thursday, the State Board also announced subcommittee chairs and co-chairs:

  • Administration and staff: Mark Wheeler, Boise State dean of extended studies, chair.
  • Alumni: Abbie Belthoff, Boise State Alumni Board president, chair.
  • Faculty: Laurie Cavey, Boise State Faculty Senate president, chair.
  • Foundation and athletics: Tommy Ahlquist, Boise State Foundation member, Jeramiah Dickey, Boise State athletic director, co-chairs.
  • Students: Isaac Celedon, Associated Students of Boise State University president, Ty Jordan, Boise State student, co-chairs.

The search committee will interview semifinalists and recommend a list of finalists for State Board consideration.

More information will be available on a presidential search website. You can contact the search committee at bsusearch@edu.idaho.gov
