The head of the Idaho Republican Party is trying to drum up GOP turnout in this month’s nonpartisan elections.

In her weekly op-ed piece, party Chair Dorothy Moon urged Republicans to vote on May 20 — in low-turnout elections where “a handful of votes can decide the outcome.”

The May elections will round out a host of governing bodies, such as library and sewer boards. Patrons will also vote on bonds and levies in 27 school districts.

“Districts across Idaho will ask voters to approve millions of dollars in bonds and levies,” Moon wrote. “Has your district been a good steward of your money, or has it wasted it? It’s up to you to decide.”

As the next election day approaches, both parties are trying to get out the vote. Earlier this week, the Idaho Democratic Party sent out an email appeal to members, calling the May elections “a turning point for our communities.”
