The College of Western Idaho has signed a partnership to develop a new Boise campus hub.

The agreement between CWI and Ahlquist Development is focused on building out 10.3 acres of college-owned land on the western edge of Downtown Boise.

The campus hub will be centered at Whitewater Park Boulevard and Main Street near the Boise River and the Greenbelt. CWI’s 101,000-square-foot building will house computer science, cybersecurity and business — growth areas for the state’s largest community college.

The building will also enable CWI to move out of leased buildings scattered around Ada County.

The CWI building is projected to open in fall 2027.

“We’re excited to take this important step forward,” President Gordon Jones said in a news release. “This project will be a catalyst for creating opportunity, supporting local employers, and providing our students with the environment they need to succeed.”

Ahlquist Development will focus on building residential units, a hotel, and retail spaces at the site.

“This investment represents our vision for a stronger, more connected future,” CWI board Chairman Jim Reames said. “It’s a win for students, for employers, and for the community.”
