The College of Idaho has announced a leadership change, hiring from within.

Executive Vice President and Provost David Douglass will take over as president at the Caldwell-based private college, effective June 1. Current President Doug Brigham will stay on as chief executive officer.

The college’s board of trustees announced the changes Monday.

Douglass has held several administrative positions at C of I, including vice president of academic affairs, dean of the faculty and dean of student affairs. He has management experience ranging from information technology to varsity athletics.

“I am honored by the trust that the board and President Brigham have placed in me,” Douglass said in a news release, “and I look forward to being a part of the continued growth of this great college.”

Brigham, a 1987 C of I graduate with a background in business, has been in the president’s post for seven years. He was named co-president with former YMCA of the Treasure Valley CEO Jim Everett in February 2018. Everett retried from the co-presidency in 2024.

On Monday, Brigham touted one of the college’s new initiatives, the “Do More in Four” plan, which will allow students to pursue a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in four years.

“There is tremendous momentum at The College of Idaho right now,” Brigham said. “Our students will have even more opportunities with our ‘Do More in Four’ curriculum, and with David’s leadership, the College is in a position to continue to drive even more innovation and academic excellence.”
