Day 43: CTE seminar

State superintendent Debbie Critchfield headed to Boise State University Thursday morning for Day 2 of the State Board of Education’s February meeting.

After listening to the board discuss education savings accounts and teacher retention, she headed back downtown for her standing meeting with House Education Committee Chair, Rep. Julie Yamamoto, R-Caldwell. She also met with Rep. Wendy Horman, R-Idaho Falls, and Sen. Lori Den Hartog, R-Meridian, to discuss K-12 funding. Horman co-chairs the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee, the Legislature’s budget writing body, and Den Hartog sits on the Senate Education Committee.

Thursday afternoon, Critchfield attended a roundtable discussion at the Career and Technical Educators of Idaho (CTEI) State Policy Seminar — a meeting meant to engage educators and education stakeholders on career-technical education, policy and advocacy.

The state superintendent will conclude Thursday at the Ada County Lincoln Day dinner in Boise.
