Idaho Education News is a comprehensive collection of online sources that provides information about public education in Idaho.
The website, IdahoEdNews.org, features stories, news and commentary about education policies, practices, and the people who create and implement them. We also distribute information through social media, a data webpage and occasional print products. EdNews is a public awareness service where parents, patrons, educators and lawmakers find the most useful information on issues that affect Idaho’s children and their future.
EdNews reports primarily on Idaho public education but also covers national education issues that impact the state. Content is free to all users. Our stories, photos and videos are available for distribution on any website as long as proper attribution is included.
EdNews is a nonprofit supported on grants from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation. Other organizations, including the Education Writers Association and Solutions Journalism Network, have supported our work.
Our work is independent and nonpartisan. We rely on support from foundations to keep our content free from paywalls and advertising. Our funders have no editorial influence on our work to help ensure our independence and trust.
Our Goal
The goal of Idaho Education News is to hold lawmakers and educators accountable for taxpayer dollars and student achievement. We are seekers of the truth. We demand transparency in government affairs.
Our Mission
The mission of Idaho Education News is to produce independent, comprehensive and thoughtful journalism about public education policy and practice in Idaho. Idaho Education News is a public awareness service where parents, patrons, educators and lawmakers can find the most useful information on issues that affect Idaho’s children and their future.
Artificial Intelligence Policy
Our journalism is human-powered.
We don't use artificial intelligence to create content or photos. Our professional journalists report, write and edit our stories. Real people attend meetings, interview sources, review documents and make editorial decisions. We are accountable for every word we publish.
We only use AI as a tool for efficiency, such as catching typos and transcribing calls, public meetings or interviews. In these cases, our journalists review all AI transcription or changes.
Our journalism is original, transparent and accountable. When readers have questions or concerns, they can reach real journalists, not bots.
Human-powered journalism is essential to public trust, and it’s at the core of everything we do.
Bottom Line
We’re all about education. Join the conversation.
