BURLEY — The Cassia County School District has narrowed its superintendent’s search to three candidates.

Finalists include:

  • Glen Szymoniak, superintendent of the Dillingham City School District in Alaska.
  • Sandra Miller, assistant superintendent of the Cassia County School District.
  • Jim Shank, superintendent for the Coupeville School District in Washington.

Patrons can participate in a meet-and-greet with the candidates on Monday, April 2, at John V. Evans Elementary School in Burley, according to a press release issued by the district Monday. Szymoniak will be available to the public at 8 a.m. Miller and Shank will be available from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Times vary to accommodate for travel, the district said.

Szymoniak served as the McCall-Donnelly School District’s superintendent from 2008 to 2014. He left in December of 2014 after the district entered into a settlement agreement.

Cassia County superintendent Gaylen Smyer, a 39-year educator, last year announced his plan to retire on June 30.

The Cassia County School District is located in Southern Idaho, roughly 35 miles East of Twin Falls.
