Another top administrator is leaving Boise State University.

Provost John Buckwalter is leaving Boise State later this month. He will move to the University of Central Florida, where he will serve as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
“I’m grateful to John for his leadership at Boise State during the past five years,” Interim President Jeremiah Shinn said in a news release. “John is an exceptional colleague and a good friend whose kindness, dedication, and genuine care for students and faculty helped define an important era at Boise State.”
Zeynep Hansen will serve as interim provost while Boise State conducts a national search for a permanent successor. Hansen, a Boise State alum, has worked at the university since 2007 in a variety of roles, including associate dean in the College of Business and Economics. She has served as vice provost for academic planning and institutional effectiveness since 2019.
Hansen will take over the provost’s position on July 21.

Buckwalter’s departure is the second high-level shakeup at Boise State in the past week. Chief financial and operating officer Alicia Estey is following former Boise State University President Marlene Tromp to the University of Vermont. In late July, Estey will begin her new job as the university’s chief financial officer and vice president for finance.
