Personal property tax: one more footnote

The personal property tax — and its possible repeal — touches every local government entity that collects a piece of the property tax.

And since every means every, that means Idaho’s community colleges also have some skin in the game.

Community colleges are funded from a pastiche of revenue sources: student fees, state funding and local property taxes.

So, according to the State Tax Commission, here’s how much the three community colleges collected in 2012 from this tax on business supplies and equipment, targeted for repeal by Gov. Butch Otter and some business leaders:

  • North Idaho College: $793,338.
  • College of Southern Idaho: $554,180.
  • College of Western Idaho: $503,474.
