West Jefferson selects superintendent

The West Jefferson school district in northeast Idaho has chosen a local grad as their next superintendent.

Shane Williams, who graduated from West Jefferson High School and lives in Terreton, got the gig.

“I am very excited to be going to West Jefferson and give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family,” Williams was quoted as saying in a news release from the district.

Williams has worked for years in the Madison School District in Rexburg, most recently as principal at Kennedy Elementary school. He has a degree in social studies education from Brigham Young University, a masters degree from American Public University and education certifications and endorsements from Idaho State University and Northwest Nazarene.

According to the news release, West Jefferson school board members vetted 17 applicants from around the country for the position. Williams will replace outgoing superintendent Dwight Richins.
