Task force to assemble again on May 17

Gov. Butch Otter’s Taskforce for Improving Education will next meet on Friday, May 17. The meeting will be held in the Meridian School District’s main office and training center (1303 E. Central Drive, Meridian) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 31 members will review and consider public suggestions gathered over the last month. The task force held seven forums around the state to give the public a chance to share their ideas for improving education. All of the comments made at these forums, along with comments made by email, will be available at the end of this week on the State Board of Education’s website. The audio from all seven forums will be posted on the site as well.

The 31 task force members will spend the first portion of their meeting looking at trends in the comments. They will spend most of the day working in small groups. The ultimate goal is to make recommendations for improving education to the governor.
