Horseshoe Bend superintendent resigns

The Horseshoe Bend School District’s Board of Trustees voted to accept the resignation of superintendent Vickie Renfro at a special meeting Wednesday. Renfro, a long-time employee of the district, turned in her letter of resignation from her positions as superintendent and elementary principal on Monday. Her departure is immediate.

The school board trustees also voted to name Dan Arriola the interim superintendent for the remainder of the school year. He is the retired superintendent of the Wilder School District. He will be retained on a part-time basis to provide leadership to the staff and board.

Board Chair Tina McDonald said the board will immediately begin the process to hire a new leader.
