Garden Valley hires new superintendent

The Garden Valley School District’s board of trustees hired Vickie Chandler  Monday night to serve as superintendent.

Chandler recently served as the Crouch city clerk. She was an educator and administrator for the Bruneau-Grand View School District, retiring in 2012.

She replaces Greg Alexander, who left the district to take an elementary principal position with the Emmett School District.

Trustees interviewed Chandler, Daniel Lantis and Tommy Turner on Saturday during a public meeting.

Lantis is a former superintendent for Clark County School District. He resigned in 2017, but is currently listed as superintendent of the Lander County School District in Battle Mountain, Nev. Turner was a finalist in the search for a superintendent of the Cascade School District.
