Mountain View will allow staffers to carry firearms in school

Idaho County’s Mountain View School District will allow staff to carry firearms on campus.

Trustees approved the policy Monday night, on a 4-1 vote, the Lewiston Tribune reported.

Under the new policy, staff members will be allowed to carry a concealed firearm and act as security officers — provided they choose to take training and receive permission from the school board.

The next step will be to seriously vet would-be volunteers, district Superintendent Kent Stokes told the Tribune. After months of editing, Stokes says the new policy is solid.

Here’s more about the Mountain View policy, from The Associated Press.
