House Democrats elect leadership team

Less than a week after House Minority Leader Mat Erpelding resigned from the Legislature, House Democrats met Tuesday to elect a new leadership team.

Rep. Ilana Rubel, a Boise attorney, will move up from assistant minority leader to minority leader.

Rep. John McCrostie, a Garden City music teacher, will take the assistant minority leader’s post. He won a contested race against Rep. Melissa Wintrow, D-Boise.

Rep. Elaine Smith, a retired teacher from Pocatello, remains as the Democrats’ caucus chair.

Erpelding, of Boise, resigned to take a position with the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce.
