Coeur d’Alene facing teacher shortage

Idaho’s sixth-largest school district is facing a teacher shortage.

The Coeur d’Alene School District is struggling to find special education and substitute teachers. And among other vacancies, the district has an unfilled full-time school nurse’s position open.

Spokane Spokesman-Review blogger D.F. Oliveria wrote about the vacancies last week, quoting a message that is being circulated within the district. Administrators are urging employees to spread the word about the vacancies, and let qualified workers know the district is hiring.

“The district is advertising employment opportunities in every possible place as there is a shortage of applicants in many fields,” the message said.
