BSU football complex named after Bleymaier

A $22 million football complex on the north end of Bronco Stadium will bear the name of former Boise State University athletic director Gene Bleymaier.

The State Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday morning to support the naming request.

The naming request came from BSU, but the idea came from Larry Williams and Jerry Caven, whose families were lead donors for the facility.

Bleymaier was athletic director at BSU for 29 years, before his firing in August 2011 amidst an NCAA investigation; BSU was sanctioned for several violations, including a lack of institutional control. Bleymaier is now athletic director at San Jose State.
