Episode 151: Immunization rates, guns in schools and sex education

Welcome to episode 151 of the Extra Credit podcast.

This week we take a closer look at an increase in the number of students who are attending Idaho schools without a full battery of immunizations. New data shows that the drop in immunizations rates is occurring as the state sees a sharp increase in the number of parens who are opting their children out of immunizations.

Plus, legislators are dealing with a handful of controversial bills as the legislative session begins to move toward adjournment. We’ll highlight one bit that would require parents to opt their children in to sex education courses, and another bill that would allow anyone with an enhanced concealed weapons permit to bring a gun to a public school — even without the principal’s knowledge.

Be sure to check back next week for another new episode of Extra Credit.
