Middleton to seek $25 million bond issue

Add Middleton to the list of school districts taking ballot measures to their patrons in March.

The growing Canyon County district will seek a $25 million bond issue, with the bulk of the money going toward a new elementary school. Trustees voted unanimously to put the bond issue on the March 13 ballot, the Idaho Press-Tribune reported Tuesday.

Two of the district’s elementary schools are already over capacity, and a demographic study suggests that the suburban district will add 1,000 more students by 2023, the Press-Tribune reported.

Middleton’s 2016-17 enrollment was 3,914.

Several other districts will seek bond issues or levies in March, including West Ada, Twin Falls and Bonneville.
