Education Week reporter Michelle R. Davis wrote this week about the Idaho Education Network funding crisis.

It’s a solid overview of the broadband crisis to date, with some national perspective — such as this quote from Douglas A. Levin, executive director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association in Glen Burnie, Md.

“Nobody wants to get caught without broadband service,” Levin told Davis. “But how a statewide network is set up and evolves over time is really important to watch.”

With the 2015 legislative session just under way, and a $8.9 million budget request looming, it’s fair to say the broadband issue will be watched closely around the Statehouse in the next few weeks.
