There’s no ‘i’ in team, either …

The lead item in the State Department of Education’s latest weekly e-newsletter comes as no surprise: an overview of Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna’s K-12 budget proposal.

The surprise comes in the headline: “Superintendent Luna Requests 5.9% Increase for Idaho Publc Schools Next Year.”

Not good. But things could always be worse.

Any veteran journalist has a few good war stories about another way to misspell “public.” One that spellcheck won’t catch, if you catch the drift.

In fact, pointing out the Education Department’s “publc” glitch may invite all manner of bad typo karma …
