Former Homedale registrar files lawsuit

(UPDATE: Corrected, 9:41 a.m., to reflect that Lejardi was a registrar, not a teacher.)

A former registrar at Homedale High School says she was wrongfully terminated because she refused to change students’ attendance records and a student transcript.

Gloria Lejardi says she was approached about giving one student A’s for seven courses he never took, according to KBOI TV in Boise, which first reported about the lawsuit Friday.

“We never taught those classes at Homedale High School, he never took them through us or any other online course. Never took the courses,” Lejardi told KBOI TV.

Citing court documents, KBOI reports that district officials admitted asking Lejardi to add the courses to the student’s transcript, saying the student had worked with teachers and school leaders on other projects.

Superintendent Rob Sauer and Principal Dion Flaming declined to be interviewed by KBOI. Sauer issued a statement to the station: “As this is a personnel issue and now a legal issue, what we can discuss is limited. However, we have faith in our attorneys and the court system to help resolve this issue with a favorable outcome.”
