State Board launches higher ed data website

The State Board of Education unveiled a new higher education data website on Wednesday.

The new “data dashboard” allows anyone to study and compare data within Idaho’s postsecondary education system and among each of the state’s public colleges and universities.

The site is available for free online alongside the State Department of Education’s K-12 report cards, another data site launched last month.

The State Board’s research staff developed the new higher ed dashboard in-house based on recommendations from an ad hoc committee.

“Staff at the Board office and the State Department of Education have put hundreds of hours into creating these online tools so that parents, students and taxpayers in general can have easy access to data, whether they are interested in the performance of a college or university, or their local public school,” State Board President Linda Clark said in a written statement. “We spend a lot of time conducting research and compiling data.  Making that information available to the public is important for transparency, and for the Board’s charge to govern the public education as one system.”

Information available on the dashboard includes:

  • Retention rates.
  • Remediation rates.
  • Enrollment.
  • Graduation rates.
  • Degrees earned.
