No serious injuries from Blaine County bus accident

All 40 Blaine County School District students and three adults involved in a Tuesday afternoon bus accident home recovering by Wednesday evening. Two students spent one night hospitalized.

The school bus rolled over near Dietrich, injuring Carey Junior High School students who were en route to a track meet. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening, according to school officials.

But at least 10 students were taken to Southern Idaho hospitals, five via helicopter and another five via ambulance. Two students were hospitalized overnight. Lincoln County emergency responders examined the students on the scene and most were transported by bus back to the school without serious injury.

On Wednesday, a mental health first aid team was at the Carey school to support staff and students.

The Blaine County district regularly updated its Facebook page after the accident. Follower Gabby Lager posted: “Good job Blaine County on notifying parents and the updates!”

The accident occurred at 12:49 p.m. on Tuesday. Police have not released the cause of the accident.
