Day 38: North Idaho

State superintendent Debbie Critchfield began her morning in Rathdrum at the Kootenai Technical Education Center, a branch campus partnership between three North Idaho districts and local businesses. KTEC provides CTE training in over ten trades to high schoolers in the Coeur d’Alene, Lakeland and Post Falls school districts.

She continued exploring North Idaho’s CTE opportunities and needs with a group of industry, workforce and education representatives following her KTEC visit. The superintendent also held a meeting with Robert Norris, Kootenai County Sheriff, to discuss school safety.

Thursday afternoon, Critchfield is set to tour Fernan STEM Academy and the Idaho Department of Lands Interagency Fire Cache — both located in Coeur d’Alene.

She’ll round out her day at the 2023 Foresters Forum Reception with Dustin Miller, Director of the Idaho Department of Lands.
