Winder tries to get out the vote … for something

Senate Assistant Majority Leader Chuck Winder is encouraging people to get out and vote in Tuesday’s West Ada School District elections.

Sen. Chuck Winder, R-Boise

Here’s an excerpt from a Winder email to constituents — with “VOTE TODAY!!!” in the subject line:

“Today is a great day to get out and vote to support Idaho’s students! The West Ada School Bond Election is today, Tuesday, May 19.  I hope you will take the time to vote. The West Ada school district needs your support for a $104 million dollar bond.”

The catch: West Ada voters approved a $96 million bond issue in March, so it’s not on Tuesday’s ballot. Three contested school board races are on the ballot — and Winder’s email doesn’t mention them.

Winder was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
