West Ada trustee censured over emails

A divided and lame-duck West Ada School Board censured one of its own over a series of election-eve emails.

On Tuesday night, the board voted 3-2 to reprimand Carol Sayles for about 40 emails she sent out on a district account, the Idaho Statesman’s Bill Roberts reported. The emails endorsed School Board challenger Julie Madsen and, according to the reprimand, divulged personnel information discussed in executive session.

Trustees Mike Vuittonet, Anne Ritter and Janet Calinsky voted in favor of the censure, Roberts reported. Ritter lost her re-election bid to Madsen in the May 19 election, and Calinsky is stepping down at the end of her term.

Sayles and trustee Tina Dean opposed the reprimand.
