The former superintendent from North Idaho’s Lakeland School District is interviewing for the top job in Idaho’s largest school district. Former Superintendent Linda Clark resigned Oct. 23 after months of public and private feuding with trustees. Since then, board members have launched a fast-track search for a successor; the district has at least 10 applicants, but Ranells has been the first candidate invited for a formal interview.

Highlights from Ranells’ schedule:

  • She will meet with staff from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the district office’s Salmon Room.
  • She will attend a community forum from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the West Ada district office, 1303 E. Central Drive, Meridian.
  • After the community forum, trustees will interview Ranells in a closed executive session. School boards can discuss personnel issues in executive session, but cannot make hiring decisions behind closed doors.

The balance of Ranells’ time will be spent touring schools and district offices.
