Add Pocatello-Chubbuck to the list of large Idaho school districts that will be going to voters in March.
The state’s fourth-largest school district will seek a two-year, $18.5 million supplemental levy, the Idaho State Journal reported Sunday.
Supplemental levies are not new to Pocatello-Chubbuck patrons; as the Journal reports, the district has had a levy on the books since 1984. But this $9.25 million-a-year levy represents an increase from the current levy granting the district about $8.5 million annually.
If approved by voters — and supplemental levies require only a simple majority to pass — this levy would account for about 13 percent of the district’s budget. This also represents an increase, according to the Journal, from about 12.3 percent this year.
March 10 is shaping up to be another busy day at the polls. Among other big-ticket proposals: the West Ada School District will seek a bond issue to cover $96 million in projects; the Bonneville School District will seek a $56.1 million bond issue; and the Coeur d’Alene School District will seek a two-year, $30 million supplemental levy.
