Gov. Butch Otter’s 2016-17 budget request for K-12 grew by nearly $4.4 million this morning.

The new money is designed to accommodate added enrollment growth — on the order of 47 school support units. A support unit is roughly equivalent to a classroom.

Jani Revier, head of Otter’s Division of Financial Management, submitted the budget revision Monday morning to the Legislature’s Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee.
