State Sen. Bob Nonini — a former House Education Committee chairman and current member of the Senate Education Committee — was hospitalized last week with flu-related symptoms.

“He is on the mend now, and still plans to be down in Boise this session,” family friend Lorna Finman told the Coeur d’Alene Press.

The 2014 session begins on Jan. 6.

Nonini, R-Coeur d’Alene, is serving his first term in the Senate. He had previously served eight years in the House.
