Tech pilots: An introductory course

Sugar Salem Spanish class
A Spanish class at Sugar-Salem High School, one of this year’s 11 technology pilot schools.

For schools that want to apply for a share of $3 million in technology pilot grants, class is in session Tuesday and Wednesday.

The State Department of Education will host four hour-long webinars to help walk school officials through the process.

Webinars will begin at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. MDT Tuesday, and 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday. Here’s a link for more information and registration.

The Education Department announced the start of the application process last week. Applications will be due June 11, and grants will be awarded on July 1.

This year, the department says it is focused on finding pilots that use “innovative technologies designed to improve student academic growth and financial efficiencies throughout an entire school. The project must be scalable to other schools in Idaho and sustainable statewide after the technology pilot period ends.”
